An ambulance collided head-on with a lorry at Migahakiula on the Badulla-Mahiyangana Road yesterday afternoon causing serious injuries to five passengers on board the ambulance and its driver. The injured were admitted to the Badulla hospital.

The ambulance was transporting patients from the Kandekeitya district hospital to the Badulla General Hospital. Police said the driver was in a critical condition.

Kandeketiya police are conducting further inquiries on the instructions of SSP Badulla,  W.A.D.P. Ganegama.
