St. Aloysius have edge over Rahula

The “Battle of two Cities”, inter-school big match between St.Aloysius College, Galle and Rahula College, Matara will be played  for the seventh year today and tomorrow at the International Cricket Stadium in Galle.

Creating history, this feature is considered the only one of its kind to have two of the main schools representing the two cities where they are located in. This feature started with the maiden match played in the year 2004 at Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Out of the six matches played so far St. Aloysius’ College have won in 2008 and the rest of the matches ended up drawn.

A fourth year player Najee Devmith Chiranpriya captains St.Aloysius. A right hander who has passed  450 runs for the season. Bowling medium pacies, he has bagged 20 wickets with 31 catches to his credit and is a fine all-rounder

A fifth year player P.M.Ekanayake leads Rahula College is a left hander and has already passed the 200 runs with two half centuries to his credit. As an off spinner, he has captured 15 wickets and is a good all-rounder. He was a member of the under 19 team that represented Southern Province.
